apologies for asking this here; there is no emule group that i can find.

after a long time of downloading hundreds of movies and songs on emule,
suddenly the selections available has dwindled to nearly nothing. if i do a
test search for, say 'madonna,' i get maybe 10 hits instead of 500.

my connection, servers, etc., are exactly the same as before.

does anyone know what's happened?

thanks,

bill

Which version r u using? On Servers menu, see whether your connection
"Preference = Low". If so, disconnect and reconnect to Preference =
normal. Obfuscat. should be set to yes. If all fail, your selection
may be really very few, pick something else.

Hope this help.

Setting the server preference level will do nothing except make that a more
preferred server.

Look in the bottom right of the Emule window and look at the globe, the 2
arrows need to be blue, if they are yellow, then you haven't got a proper
connection to the servers, you need to open a port in your router, if you
have one, or in a firewall.

If that doesn't work, go to Options/Connections and choose the check box for
Use UPnP to setup ports, that should sort it for you.

A search for madonna on mine shows 450 on Kad and 309 on Global Servers, so
it is still working OK.

I've been following this thread as my eMule is working OK. However, the two
arrows at the bottom of my screen are yellow and have been for a couple of
years - if that's a sub-optimal connection, I'd be interested in improving
it. However, I can't locate a checkbox for Use UPnP in the
Options>Connections tab? Any other pointers?
I assume my "problem" would be the Windows firewall that KAD has trouble
with.

Go to Options/Connection and check the Use UPnP to setup ports box.
Nope, don't have one of them on the Connection screen.

I did a port test and it said that the TCP test failed.

UPnP may not be on the connection tab depending on the emule client you
use.

If you're using the Extreme 6.0 port for example, you'll find "Enable UPnP
Support" on the "Extended" tab at the very bottom. Option, Extended, use
the slider to go all the way to the bottom. Check the UPnP box. There is
also an option for random port on UPnP gateway.

If you use the MorphXT release, you'll find "Enable UPnP" under Options,
Mod Options, emulEspana.

Both of these are very good emule clients, and like the EastShare release,
MorphXT allows you to import incomplete WinMX files if you should find the
same file on emule, and want to save yourself the time of downloading what
you already have. I've done this many times when a complete file I wanted
"disappears" from WinMX. You just find the same file (check for exact
byte count, must match) on emule, start a download, then import what you
have downloaded with WinMX. If part of the WinMX d/l was corrupt (Which
sometimes happens), emule only imports the good parts. Note, Extreme does
not import partial WinMX files.

Same here, mind you most of that 309 are fake.

R U using wireless connection? If so, try to move closer to the
router and see what happen.
